The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Emergency Medical Science is the result of formal agreements between St. Charles Community College (SCC), as well as an agreement between SCC and two local area partners – Respond Right EMS Academy and St. Charles County Ambulance District (SCCAD). SCC grants 30 credit hours toward the A.A.S. degree for students who submit proof of passing the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Exam for paramedics. These credit hours will be applied to the degree once all general education courses have been completed. Students may begin taking the general education courses required for the A.A.S. at SCC at any time.

The Nursing Program at SCC includes courses in science and liberal arts, as well as nursing. Nursing courses consist of lecture and laboratory periods and include carefully planned clinical experiences in local health care facilities. Clinicals begin early in the first semester and increase in length of time and complexity of skill as the program progresses. A well-equipped lab at the Center for Healthy Living allows students to practice their skills. Admission to the Nursing Program is on a selective basis. Because of the academic demand of curriculum that prepares graduates to take a national certification examination, applicants must meet certain academic standards.

Graduates from the St. Charles College nursing program does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exam.

The total program must yield a cumulative grade point average of 2.0, and all nursing and science courses must have earned a grade of "B" or above. Effective 2013.

Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) are in high demand because patients stay less time in the hospital, and people in general live longer and survive catastrophic illness and accidents. Additionally, the importance of people with chronic conditions being able to remain well and in the community is of growing interest in our communities and nationwide. The OTA is uniquely qualified to help address these vital issues facing our world today. As a result, more people are finding the need for OT services. As changes in healthcare continue, the need for OTAs will continue to rise.
