What Is Nursing A.S.?

The Nursing Program at SCC includes courses in science and liberal arts, as well as nursing. Nursing courses consist of lecture and laboratory periods and include carefully planned clinical experiences in local health care facilities. Clinicals begin early in the first semester and increase in length of time and complexity of skill as the program progresses. A well-equipped lab at the Center for Healthy Living allows students to practice their skills. Because of the academic demand of curriculum that prepares graduates to take a national certification examination, applicants must meet certain academic standards.

Graduation from St. Charles Community College nursing program(s) does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exam. The Missouri State Board of Nursing may refuse to issue or reinstate any certificate of registration or authority, permit or license required pursuant to this chapter for one or any combination of causes stated in subsection two of this section or the board may, as a condition to issuing or reinstating any such permit or license, require a person to submit himself or herself for identification, intervention, treatment, or monitoring by the intervention program and alternative program as provided in section 335.067. RSMo 335.066.
