The Associate Degree of Nursing Program is designed to prepare registered nurses who administer safe, patient-centered nursing care in beginning staff nurse roles in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, doctors' offices, and other healthcare-related facilities. Graduates are awarded an Associate of Science degree in nursing and are eligible to apply for the Registered Nurse Licensing Examination. Graduates are prepared for employment as registered nurses immediately after graduation and satisfactory completion of the State Board of Nursing requirements for licensure.

Graduation from St. Charles Community College nursing program(s) does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exam. “The Missouri State Board of Nursing may refuse to issue or reinstate any certificate of registration or authority, permit or license required pursuant to this chapter for one or any combination of causes stated in subsection two of this section or the board may, as a condition to issuing or reinstating any such permit or license, require a person to submit himself or herself for identification, intervention, treatment, or monitoring by the intervention program and alternative program as provided in section 335.067 ." RSMo 335.066.

LPN to RN Bridge Application Requirements

St. Charles Community College, Department of Nursing supports the concept of articulation and has formulated a plan whereby Licensed Practical Nurses may request advanced standing in the Associate Degree of Nursing program offered by the College. LPNs may "BRIDGE" into the ADN program by successfully completing the admission requirements as outlined below.

Admission to the Bridge program will be based on a comprehensive review of applicants' materials; the Bridge Admission Committee will review applicants' materials and communicate final decisions at the close of each semester. The demanding curriculum of the ADN program prepares graduates for the national licensing examination (NCLEX) and to perform safe nursing care in clinical situations; therefore, admission is selective.

Students must meet with an Allied Health Advisor (636-922-8720) to initiate the application process or schedule an appointment using the link above. All criteria must be completed in order to APPLY for the Bridge program.
