This course provides the classroom instruction and certification exam necessary to obtain Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification in the state of Missouri. CMTs administer certain medications to residents in long-term care facilities.

To be eligible for registration, candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED/HiSET certificate, be a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) for at least six months prior to program start, and be currently employed at a skilled or intermediate care facility. Candidates are required to submit a letter of recommendation from the Director of Nursing or equivalent administrator at the time of registration.

The CMT program at St. Charles Community College is comprised of three components: classroom instruction, clinical work, and final exam (written and practicum). Students must complete 24 hours of clinical observation at their employing facility to satisfy program requirements. Upon successful completion of both the classroom and clinical components of the program, students will be eligible to take the final exam. Once passed successfully, students will be eligible for state certification.
