RN Program Application Requirements
The demanding curriculum of the ADN program prepares graduates for the national licensing examination (NCLEX) and to perform safe nursing care in clinical situations; therefore, admission is selective.
To complete the ADN application, students must meet with an allied health counselor upon completion of the admission requirements. To make an appointment with an allied health advisor, email alliedhealth@stchas.edu or click here.

Admission Process - Associate Degree of Nursing
For entry into the Associate Degree of Nursing program at St. Charles Community College, students are ranked for admission by a point system correlating to their HESI A2 scores, GPAs, and Anatomy & Physiology I grades. Admission is selective.
SCC admits students to the Associate Degree of Nursing program in the fall and spring semesters. Students meeting minimum eligibility requirements for application are not guaranteed admission to the nursing program.
For further information on the Associate Degree of Nursing program, consult the College Catalog.
Tips for Applicants
- Do your best -- Students are admitted based on their scores. If you feel you can do better on a relevant test, give it another try! If you meet the minimum requirement, you are still eligible to apply, but that does not guarantee your admission to the program.
- Plan ahead -- Plan to register for your HESI A2 test at least two weeks in advance of your desired test date. Testing reservations book up closer to the application deadline, so do not procrastinate. If you are ready to test, email alliedhealth@stchas.edu for registration.
- Aim for the target -- With the selection process comes serious benefits: a limited wait for admitted students, a quality program producing top-notch health care providers, and a stronger relationship with applicants. Over the past three cycles, on average, students who were admitted earned the following: a 3.5 relevant and cumulative GPA, and an 88 on the HESI A2.
- This does not mean every student earned both of these scores. A student may have earned a 93 on the HESI but a 3.2 GPA or a 79 on the HESI and a 3.8 GPA. This is the average combination of scores and nothing more
