Michelle Essary enjoys helping the younger generation set foot on a path to success.

“I decided to go back to school after my youngest child started kindergarten this past year,” Michelle said. “SCC seemed like the best fit for my educational goals and my hectic family schedule.”

Through scholarship opportunities, online courses and one-on-one time with professors, SCC is helping Michelle achieve her goal of leading the next generation. 

“I chose to major in elementary education because I have always enjoyed and taken an interest in working with children and aiding them in their educational development.”

In the fall, Michelle hopes to become a substitute teacher in the surrounding community, while continuing her education at SCC. After graduation, she plans to transfer to a university and obtain a bachelor's degree.

“I have loved being able to get started at SCC. The courses I’m taking are getting me one step closer to my degree.”
