Antonia LaRocca
Antonia LaRocca
A+ Scholarship Recipient | Current Students | Straight To SCC From High School | Student
Antonia LaRocca chose SCC because of the affordable education she could receive with the A+ Scholarship Program. Shortly after enrolling, she was accepted into SCC’s Honors Program.
“SCC’s Honors Program classes are rich in discussion, material and interesting people,” Antonia said. “The program opened me up to the extended life of a scholar and offered many opportunities to get to know myself and like-minded individuals.”
The Honors Program isn’t the only organization that occupies Antonia’s time. During her time at SCC, she has become the president for SCC’s Phi Theta Kappa and Student Success Society, as well as being involved in Student Government Association, Creative Writing Society and other various clubs and organizations throughout the community.
“I have always been very involved with different activities and organizations growing up, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to turn all of those interests into a career that I would be just as passionate about.”
At first, Antonia thought she may want to pursue something in performing arts or video production, but she later decided that didn’t speak to enough of her interests.
“The one thing I found across all of the activities I’m involved in was the act of communicating and understanding others through multiple mediums.”
After Antonia graduates from SCC with an Associate of Arts degree this spring, she intends to travel the U.S., then double major in communications and English at a four year university in the fall of 2019.
“SCC has provided me with outlets that enhanced my speaking, leadership and teamwork skills. Thanks to SCC, I’m more accepting of challenges and changes.”
