After just a few assignments, William Vogt-Spencer was approached by his English Composition II professor about joining SCC’s Honors Program.
“The professor who recommended me for the Honors Program seemed to see something in me as a student, so I wanted to know if I could see that in myself,” William said.
Though he’s only been in the Honors Program for just shy of two semesters, William calls each class he has taken “wonderful.”
“What I will remember the most fondly is the general atmosphere of each honors class, because never before have I been in a class where both the teacher and students were so excited and happy to be there.”
William, who started at SCC as a dual-enrollment student in 2013, says the value of SCC extends far beyond its low cost and easily-accessible campus.
“SCC was the place where I could start down my own educational path without yet having to figure out exactly where that path was going.”
Now, more sure of his path, William has plans of graduating from SCC in May 2017 and transferring to University of Missouri–St. Louis to complete his undergraduate degrees in political science and philosophy.
“Studying political science and philosophy is helping me better myself and become better at helping other people.”
