The A+ Program brought Danielle Hoffman to SCC in 2009, but little did she know it was the start to something much bigger than an associate degree.
“When I enrolled at SCC, I wanted to get my associate degree in teaching, but after taking a few classes I wasn’t so sure,” Danielle said.
Taking classes with SCC business technology professors Andrea Compton and Nancy Graviett made Danielle further evaluate a degree change.
“Business technology classes were a lot of fun, and I was always learning something new. The classes made me realize that I really enjoyed working on a computer. That’s when I changed my degree to business administration.”
Danielle graduated from SCC in 2013 with an Associate of Applied Science in Business Technology and started her career with the Fort Zumwalt School District as a paraprofessional. After working in the field for three years, Danielle decided she was ready for something that related more to her degree.
“I found the listing for the assessment center position at SCC on Monster.com. The description really stood out to me, so I applied immediately.”
After acing her interviews, Danielle was hired on as an assessment technician in SCC’s Assessment Center.
“The best part of my job is interacting with students. I love when students get excited about passing or finishing their tests and realizing that they did much better than they thought. It is always a great feeling knowing that you did well and proved yourself wrong.”
Danielle isn’t stopping there; she is looking into earning a bachelor’s degree and taking new, interesting classes.
“I want to look into sign language classes because when I was a paraprofessional I loved learning new ways to communicate. I hope to earn a bachelor’s degree with a minor in sign language.”
