Benefits of the Law Enforcement A.A.S.?
Criminal Justice graduates with an A.A.S degree and on-the-job training qualify for growing career options in law enforcement, homeland security, cyber/information security, community crime prevention, or crisis response.
SCC has agreements with four-year schools in the St. Louis metro area and across Missouri so that graduates can transfer the AAS degree and finish a bachelor’s degree in these and more related fields. Students can use their internship to explore in more detail specific Criminal Justice career paths.
Occupational Outlook
Employment in the Law Enforcement Industry is projected to grow 5 percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations. About 59,100 openings for police and detectives are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of these job openings over the next several years will be in emerging in high-growth industries.

SCC graduates with an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in criminal justice are employed in a broad range of careers including, but not limited to: bailiff, border patrol agent, compliance officer, court administrator, court clerk, court reporter, criminal investigator, customs inspector, harbor, lake and waterways police, highway patrol pilot, immigration inspector, corrections officer, law clerk, narcotics investigator, police and detectives supervisor, police artist, police identification and records officer, police officer, sheriff, and warden.
