Applying is easy! We have an open-admission policy, which means if you have a high school diploma or its equivalent, you’re in and we can’t wait to see you in the halls.
2023 Jazz Camp
This camp for middle and high school students features classes in jazz improvisation and ear training, as well as instrumental master classes. Big band rehearsals include rhythm sectionals and combos, and participants enjoy professional performances by the guest faculty each afternoon. June 11-16; Full Day Tuition-$399.
Communications
From modes of communication, past and present, to actual participation in mass media corporations, communication classes offer students a rare chance to learn about what makes society tick.
Communication (COM) classes cover traditional subjects like communication basics (COM 101 Oral Communication), the art of speaking well (COM 106 Public Speaking), improving your people skills (COM 110 Interpersonal Communication), working with others (COM 104 Small Group Communication), and understanding people from different cultural backgrounds (COM 215 Intercultural Communication). Other offerings include Argumentation and Debate, Persuasion, Oral Interpretation and Voice and Diction.
Mass Communication (COM 102 Mass Communication) surveys the history and development of media, from books to our current social media. Strategic communication and journalism classes enlighten those who strive to enter the fields of communications, including media production, social media, broadcasting, film, advertising, public relations (COM 115 Public Relations) and corporate communication. Hands-on classes include (COM 260 Video Production) and (COM 296 Communication Internship).
Several classes are cross-listed with Business (BUS), Theater (THE) and Global Culture (GLC).
