SCC Moves Classes and Services Online for Remainder of Spring Semester

Published: 03/20/2020

In response to the rapidly changing situation concerning the coronavirus, St. Charles Community College will move all services and classes online starting March 23. This will continue until the end of the spring semester.

“These are challenging times we are going through,” said Barbara Kavalier, Ph.D., SCC president, “but I would like to commend our faculty, staff, and students for rising to this challenge and showing ingenuity, determination and grace.”

All spring semester events on campus have been canceled. The SCC spring Commencement is currently postponed, and the College is considering alternatives for graduation and pinnings.

Effective March 23, all SCC locations will restrict on-campus access to the public until further notice. The college is open but all instruction and support services will be delivered online.

“These decisions were not made lightly, and were made with the input of health agencies, local governments, the Board of Trustees and our faculty, staff and administrators,” explained Kavalier.

Employees will continue working remotely from home through the spring term. A limited number of essential employees will be allowed back on campus but will maintain CDC recommended guidelines for social distancing and other safety precautions.

Admissions, financial aid, advising and other important student services will continue to be available remotely during this time.
