Young People’s Theatre to hold open auditions for The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Young People’s Theatre will hold open auditions for “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the St. Charles Community College campus. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Callbacks – by invitation only – will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, and at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15. Tickets will be $10 and can be purchased at stchastickets.com or by calling 636-922-8233.
Auditions are open for youth ages 8 to 19 and will consist of cold readings, song and a short dance combination that will be taught. Wear comfortable clothing and bring jazz/ballet/character shoes for the dance audition. A parent or guardian must be present during the audition. To be cast, students must either have had Introductory Theatre Workshop I or be concurrently enrolled in that class in addition to being in the production. If selected, production cost is $210. From the Academy Award-winning team comes a lushly scored retelling of Victor Hugo’s epic story of love, acceptance and what it means to be a hero.
This play is based on the novel by Victor Hugo and songs from the Disney film. It features the book by Peter Parnell, music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, orchestrations by Michael Starobin, incidental music and vocal arrangements by Michael Kosarin and dance arrangements by Rob Berman.
“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” was originally developed by Disney Theatrical Productions. It is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI (www.MTIShows.com).
