Ryan May will be teaching one-day non-credit dance intensives for youth, age 11-18, this summer for St. Charles Community College’s Continuing Education. Dancers will be challenged technically and artistically through workshops as they learn different styles and techniques, all while being exposed to jazz, musical theater dance and hip-hop. Audition and acting skills will also be taught to enhance the student’s performance as a dancer. Jazz shoes are required in these classes:

  • Fosse Styles – Chicago (June 8)
  • Andy Blankenbuehler – The Heights (June 15)
  • Christopher Gattelli Styles – Newsies (July 20)
  • Jerome Robbins – West Side Story (July 27)

May will be also teach several SCC summer camps. May is a senior at Missouri State majoring in theatre education and minoring in dance. He taught youth programs at Springfield Little Theatre. He has performed in several musicals, most recently Newsies and West Side Story. According to May, he is excited to be teaching at SCC.
