Although winter does not start for another month, November has already shown below-freezing temperatures. Now is the perfect time to begin gathering your old men’s, women’s and children’s coats for families in need.

The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery and St. Charles Community College are teaming up for the Crisis Nursery Coat Drive from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Nov. 20-21. Coats can be dropped off on these days and times in the Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building lounge at St. Charles Community College at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in Cottleville, Mo.

The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery provides a short-term, safe haven for about 6,500 area children annually, whose families face an emergency caused by illness, homelessness, domestic violence or overwhelming parental stress.

The Crisis Nursery provides care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, at five sites and support for families at ten outreach centers throughout St. Louis, St. Charles, Southern Illinois and surrounding regions.

If you’re an SCC student looking for service hours, volunteering for the Coat Drive is a way to give back. Please note: It is not necessary for you to be an SCC student, faculty or staff member to volunteer.
