YPT to hold open auditions for Irving Berlin's 'White Christmas' Aug. 19

Young People’s Theatre will hold open auditions for Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at noon Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the St. Charles Community College campus. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Callbacks for principle roles will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.
Auditions are open for youth ages, 8 to 19, and will consist of cold readings, song and a short dance combination that will be taught. Students should prepare a one-minute cutting of a Broadway repertoire song and bring an accompaniment track or sheet music. An additional tap audition will be included for those who tap. Please bring tap shoes, as well as appropriate shoes for dance – no flip flops. Students should also wear clothes they can move comfortably in. Those auditioning must be accompanied by an adult. To be cast, students must either have had Introductory Theatre Workshop I or concurrently enroll in that class in addition to being in the production.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Dec. 14-15, and 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 15-16. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at stchastickets.com or by calling 636-922-8233.
Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is based upon the Paramount Pictures film. It is written for the screen by Norman Krasna, Norman Panama and Melvin Frank. Music and lyrics by Irving Berlin, book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Original stage production directed by Walter Bobbie.
