SCC to host How to Get a Job seminar Dec. 7

Published: 11/19/2018

St. Charles Community College will host “How to Get a Job,” a free seminar by Frank Alaniz, a Missouri workforce regional liaison, from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, in the Student Center, Room 205-206.

As an experiment, Alaniz applied for 100 job openings, received 100 interviews and was offered 100 jobs – most of which he wasn’t even qualified for. Almost all companies require applicants to complete an online application using their Applicant Tracking System. Eight-five percent of all applicants are rejected, even if highly qualified for the position, and their resume is never seen by an actual person.

Alaniz’s experience as a programmer and network of HR recruiters has provided him with an understanding of how these systems work. He brings inside expertise to educate his clients on how to get through the online application process successfully and to win a job interview, how to write a resume and prepare for an interview, and how to manage one’s social media presence.

Due to limited seating, attendees are encouraged to sign up ahead of time at http://tiny.cc/GetJob.
