SCC president Dr. Barbara Kavalier to chair a blue ribbon panel discussion with women in leadership roles Sept. 19

SCC president, Dr. Barbara Kavalier, will chair a blue ribbon panel discussion with women about their experiences in and analysis of the world of politics and beyond during “Shaping Policy: Women in Leadership Roles,” at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the SSB auditorium on the college campus. This event is part of the Democracy Days lineup starting Monday, Sept. 18.

Marie-Hélène Bernard, President and CEO of the St. Louis Symphony, will be a “Shaping Policy: Women in Leadership Roles” panelist on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

“It is my honor to facilitate a session that includes some of the area’s most influential female leaders discussing their vision for shaping and advancing policy,” said Kavalier, Ph.D. 

“Shaping Policy: Women in Leadership Roles” panelists include Marie-Hélène Bernard, CEO of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra; Adrian E. Bracy, CEO of the YWCA; Loria Eaton, president of Nextgen Information Systems; and Lesley S. Hoffarth, executive director of Forest Park Forever. 

“I am delighted to join a panel of impressive leaders to speak on women in leadership roles, and to give diverse views and perspectives to SCC’s students, as they will be the leaders of tomorrow, shaping our future,” said Bernard, Democracy Days panelist. 

The mission of Democracy Days is “to examine the history, health and functioning of democracy in America and abroad.” The multi-day forum has been held annually at SCC since September 2001. All events are free and open to the public. Parking for patrons is free in the campus Yellow and Purple lots.
