More than 700 high school students to job shadow community professionals starting March 28
Published: 03/15/2017
Some 710 St. Charles and Lincoln county high school students and St. Charles Community College (SCC) students will be out in the community March 28-31 and April 4-7, for the opportunity to job shadow someone in their field of interest through a new SCC program, the Career Explorations Alliance.
Students will be shadowing professionals in the community March 28-31 and April 4-7.
Students will be shadowing professionals in a range of fields from cyber security experts to registered nurses to heating and cooling professionals.
“The professionals participating are very excited about sharing their knowledge and expertise with a younger generation,” said Dawn Thornton, program manager. “Students usually don’t have exposure to a profession until after they have graduated from a trade school or college, so this gives them a real-world feel. In addition, it’s extremely valuable for our community to showcase all of the career opportunities available right here in our backyard.”
Career Explorations Alliance, which launched in January 2016, is a partnership with six local school districts in St. Charles and Lincoln counties providing insight to career opportunities for our youth.
