Scary Movie Marathon returns to SCC Oct. 24-27

There’s no need to be frightened – St. Charles Community College’s eighth annual Scary Movie Marathon returns Oct. 24-27, hosted by the SCC Student Activities Office. A different movie will be shown each night, and guest speakers will precede each movie.

Movies will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Oct. 24-27, in the auditorium of the Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building on the SCC campus in Cottleville, with guest lectures starting at 6:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Free popcorn will be available, and beverages and other snacks will be available for purchase.

SCC Scary Movie Marathon Schedule: (All R-rated films require students under the age of 17 to be accompanied by an adult upon entry.) 

Monday, Oct. 24

6:30 p.m. – “Chronis Stress, The Horror! Be Afraid, Be ery Afraid…Or Should We?” lecture given by Amanda Bequette

7 p.m. – The Conjuring 2 (2016). This film is rated R. 

Tuesday, Oct. 25

6:30 p.m. – “Salem Witches and Modern Witchcraft: Fact and Fiction,” lecture given by Kate Weber and Christy Gant  

7 p.m. – The Witch (2016). This film is rated R. 

Wednesday, Oct. 26

6:30 p.m. – “Do Be Afraid of the Dark,” lecture given by Rachel McWhorter  

7 p.m. – Lights Out (2016). This film is rated PG-13.

Thursday, Oct. 27

6:30 p.m. – “Aah, Real Children: Examining Childhood Fears & Scary Kids in the Horror Genre,” lecture given by Grace Moser and Corey Porter.

7 p.m. – The Boy (2016). This film is rated PG-13.
