SCC to hold insurance sign-up events in November
Published: 10/25/2016
St. Charles Community College will be offering events providing information on health insurance available through the U.S. government, as well as letting individuals sign up for healthcare plans. The events will be held Monday, Nov. 14, and Wednesday-Thursday, Nov. 16-17, on the SCC campus located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in Cottleville.
“The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires Americans to sign up for health insurance, but the process can be very confusing,” said Paul Roesler, professor of political science at SCC. “The open enrollment period begins Nov. 1, yet many people have questions about the process. I’m excited to have the experts come to SCC – it is an important service to our community.”
The first event, Health Insurance 101, is an informational presentation by Hana Hartman, an ACA navigator, that will be held from noon-1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the auditorium of the Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Building. No appointment is necessary to attend. Hartman will explain the ins and outs of Missouri’s health insurance exchanges, including information on how to sign up.
ACA Enrollment Days will be the following week, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday, Nov. 16-17, at SCC. At these full-day events, Hana and other navigators will help students and community members sign up for healthcare plans.
Students and other community members who would like to attend a session are required to sign up for available time slots here: https://goo.gl/forms/oxckLsMtru3mgVcI2 or by calling 314-531-7526,x374. If time slots fill up, SCC will consider adding more ACA Enrollment Days, or people can schedule times directly with the navigators.
