SCC Board of Trustees to Begin Search for College’s Fourth President
Published: 01/26/2016
At their regular January meeting on Monday, Jan. 25, the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of SCC President Ron Chesbrough, Ph.D., effective June 30, 2016. Chesbrough has accepted the presidency at Cazenovia College, a four-year private residential college near Syracuse, N.Y., beginning July 1, 2016.
The Board will begin meeting to outline the search process for SCC’s fourth president. The first meeting is set for Saturday, Jan. 30, according to SCC Board President Rose Mack.
“His communication skills and ability to work well with civic, business and educational leaders, as well as faculty, staff and students, has set him apart as an exceptional leader,” Mack said. “Cazenovia College is fortunate to have secured him as the institution’s next president.”
Chesbrough began his tenure at SCC in October 2011 and succeeded John M. McGuire, Ph.D., who served as president from 1996-2011. Since he arrived at the college, Chesbrough has launched a long-range planning effort, strengthened four-year institution partnerships, completed a reorganization of key areas to support student success, and enhanced internal communications through the use of open forums, email updates, and a personal blog. Under his leadership, the college continued to enhance campus safety initiatives, including the hiring of a Title IX coordinator, and SCC was the recipient of the two largest financial gifts in its history.
He has served on the boards of several civic organizations and is currently president of the Board of the St. Charles County Economic Development Center and is past president of the President’s and Chancellor’s Council of the Missouri Community College Association.
“Selection of SCC’s next president is of the utmost criticality to the members of the Board of Trustees. On Jan. 30, we will begin our work to establish the Presidential Search Process,” Mack said.
