Center Stage Theatre to present 'Clybourne Park' Sept. 30-Oct. 4
Published: 08/13/2015
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. 3; 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. Tickets are free to SCC students with ID, or $8 general admission and $6 seniors, veterans and students. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.
“Clybourne Park” spans two generations 50 years apart. In 1959, Russ and Bev are selling their house, unknowingly bringing the first black family into the neighborhood. This creates some discontent among the white residents of the neighborhood. In 2009, the same property is being bought by a young white couple, whose plan to raze the house and start again is met with equal disapproval by the black residents of the soon-to-be-gentrified area. Bruce Norris’s excruciatingly funny and squirm-inducing satire explores the fault line between race and property.
