SCC to host drug and alcohol prevention events Sept. 30-Oct. 1

SCC nursing students will kick off the series of events with a presentation on aspects of alcohol abuse at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The film “The Anonymous People” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30. “The Anonymous People” is an independent feature documentary about the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from alcohol and other drug addictions. Attendees must RSVP at the180.org to reserve a seat.

Tiffany Eis, keynote speaker, will present “What Drugs Did to Me” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. Eis had a near death experience because of drugs. She had two strokes, both legs amputated below the knees and an aortic heart valve replacement on her 30^th birthday. She hopes to influence others to get out and stay out of the world of addictive behaviors.

“Alcohol and drug abuse impact all of us, whether it’s a family member or friend; educating our loved ones is critical,” said Kelley Pfeiffer, student activities manager. “These events will provide a variety of opportunities for education and will offer great resources for people who need them.”
