Derek Hughes grew up in Minnesota and studied acting at the University of Minnesota. In 1997, Derek and his collaborator were awarded first place in Stage Magic by the International Brotherhood of Magicians for their performance “Express Train.” Hughes performed at the Winter 2001 Aspen Comedy Festival, has an extensive theatre resume and travels the country performing his magic.
Carlie and Doni are best friends who met in 2005 at Los Angeles Community College. Soon into their education, they realized that college was not for them and dropped out. Carlie moved in with Doni and throughout the next two years, they attended a variety of actor training classes such as improvisation, cold reading, commercial classes, scene study and more. They did not care for these classes either, so they decided to start writing silly songs and sketches on their own time. In 2007, Carlie’s mom convinced them to sign them up for open mic at the Comedy Store. They weren’t sure how their act would go over, but it went better than expected and they have spent the last four years improving and expanding on their act. They were voted Best Comedians in L.A. for 2011 by Los Angeles Magazine.
The show is rated PG-13. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for SCC students with a valid ID. Purchase tickets online at stchastickets.com or through the SCC box office at 636-922-8050.
