SCC's Center Stage Theatre to Present 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum' July 23-28

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” is set in ancient Rome. A slave named Pseudolus schemes to gain his freedom by helping his master’s son get the girl he desires. What ensues is a riot of mistaken identities, plot twists, coincidences and comic routines. There is humor in Sondheim’s music, dance numbers and stock characters.
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, July 23-25; 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, July 26-27; and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28.
Cast members include: Andrew Kuhlman, of St. Louis, as Pseudolus; Christian Lewis, of Paynesville, as Hero; Britney Kelcher, of St. Charles, as Domina; Gregory Faupel, of St. Peters, as Senex; Cody Cole, of Wentzville, as Hysterium; Becky Loughridge, of St. Peters, as Philia; Dylan Carl, of St. Peters, as Marcus Lycus; Nic Branson, of O’Fallon, as Miles Gloriosus; Paul James, of O’Fallon, as Erronius; Joshua Ahrens, of St. Charles, Joshua Rowland, of St. Peters, Christian Wacker, of Wentzville, and Ethan Isaac, of St. Charles, as Proteans; Jenna Thomas, of St. Charles, as Gymnasia; Lindsay Gingrich, of St. Peters, as Vibrata; Jordyn Wofford, of St. Peters, as Panacea; Baily Jones, of Wentzville, as Tintinabula; and Lauren Murray, of St. Charles, and Becca Von, of St. Peters, as the Geminae.
“This is going to be a hilarious show,” said Christian Lewis, who will portray Hero. “The characters are really funny, and the songs are super catchy.”
Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and non-SCC students, and free for SCC students with ID. Tickets will be offered at a special reduced price of $5 for everyone on Budget Wednesdays.
