Hybrid classes to be offered at SCC Fall 2013
Published: 04/10/2013
With hybrid classes, students have the opportunity to take multiple classes, even up to a full course load, with only having to come to campus two or three days a week.
“Hybrid classes offer the freedom of an online class with the personal contact of an on-campus class,” said Paul Roesler, SCC political science professor. “The faculty involved in this feel that hybrid classes offer the best of both worlds, since the classes give students more flexibility, while still giving them the weekly face-time with their teachers and fellow students.”
The hybrid classes that will be offered for Fall 2013 include English Composition I, ENG 101-H; Intro to TV, COM 290-H; Intro to Sociology, SOC 101-H; Intro to American Government, POL 101-H; Intro to International Relations, POL 201-H; Intro to Comparative Politics, POL 210-H; and Intro to Global Studies, GLS 101-H. Hybrid course will also be offered in Business Administrative Systems (BAS), Business Administration (BUS), College Development (COL), Computer Networking (CPC) and Mathematics (MAT).
“Hybrid classes are not the same as online classes that are almost entirely independent learning,” said Roesler. “These classes give students face-to-face learning opportunities with their professors and peers, and hybrid classes mean less in-class lecturing and more discussion of topics that make learning fun.”
