Partnership Provides Grants for Area Schools

The following programs received funding.
Discovery Elementary School (Orchard Farm School District) received $497.25 for their Discovery Career Fair, where community members will be invited to share information regarding their careers to elementary students, connecting learning to the real world.
Orchard Farm Elementary School received $250.00 for scientific inquiry classroom activities, where students participate in hands-on experiments, which aid in student understanding of the scientific process.
Orchard Farm Middle School received $100.00 for their Career Fair, where students spend time with community professionals to learn about their careers and the paths they took to get there.
Orchard Farm High School received $500.00 for a new camera, enabling high school journalism students to learn photography and photo editing skills.
Campbell Montessori Middle School (in St. Charles, Mo.) received $281.04 for their “Micro Economy Program,” where students start and manage a small business and design, build and sell a product.
The purpose of the ABLE Mini-Grants for Schools Program is to provide funds and support to teachers in participating school districts for school enrichment programs that focus on career development, career exploration and/or career readiness skills.
St. Charles County ABLE was created in collaboration with local business leaders and participating school district personnel to foster workforce readiness and educational programs for kindergarten through 12th grade students in the community. A business and education partnership, ABLE empowers young people by preparing them for the future. For more information on ABLE, visit http://www.stccable.org.
