Charlene Strong, LGBT Activist, to Speak at SCC

Published: 10/14/2011

Co-editor of The Seattle Lesbian and an advocate for equality, Strong will come to SCC as part of her fall speaking tour. Strong is the subject of the award-winning documentary, “For My Wife,” and her testimony to the Washington state legislature influenced domestic partnership legislation in the state.

Strong’s lecture is part of SCC’s multicultural programming – events celebrating nationally recognized heritage months throughout the academic year. Strong’s lecture is part of Pride Month activities (being observed in October around National Coming Out Day while students are on campus – instead of June). Multicultural programming allows students to consider multiple perspectives and cultures.
