SCC Men's Baseball Team Names Three Players to NJCAA All-Region XVI Team and Four to First-Team All-MCCAC

Sophomore Caleb Piatt, of O’Fallon, Ill., earned NJCAA All-Region XVI and First-Team All-MCCAC honors as SCC’s third basemen. Piatt finished 2010 with the second highest season batting average in SCC history with .429. He hit for 19 doubles, 2 triples, 10 home runs and was credited with 46 RBIs. Piatt was named to the NJCAA Distinguished All-American and All-Region XVI Academic teams. Piatt graduated from SCC in May 2010 and signed a letter of intent to play at Dallas Baptist University this fall.
 
Sophomore pitcher Joe Scanio, of Florissant, Mo.,earned NJCAA All-Region XVI and First-Team All-MCCAC honors. Scanio finished the season with a record of 7-3 and a 3.24 ERA. He signed a letter of intent to play at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La.
 
Freshman outfielder Aaron Priestes, of Springfield, Mo., joined Piatt and Scanio as the third Cougar named to the 11-man NJCAA All-Region XVI team.  He earned First-Team All-MCCAC honors as well. Priestes led Region XVI in home runs (15) and RBIs (54). His 15 home runs were the second highest season home run total in SCC history.

Sophomore Josh Grumke, of Bridgeton, Mo., was named to the NJCAA Distinguished All-American and All-Region XVI Academic teams. Grumke pitched and played outfield for the SCC Cougars. His 2010 pitching record was 2-0 with a 1.73 ERA. He hit .273 with four doubles, one triple and a home run. Grumke will continue his academic and athletic career at Truman State University this fall.
 
Freshman catcher Tommy Fleckenstein, of Castle Rock, Colo., earned First-Team All-MCCAC honors with a .371 batting average, 14 doubles, three triples and seven home runs in 2010.
 
Freshman Jake Spies, of Florissant, Mo., earned Honorable Mention All-MCCAC and NJCAA Region XVI Academic honors as the Cougars’ second basemen. He finished 2010 with a .336 batting average, seven doubles and five home runs.
