SCC Employee Named St. Charles County Regional Winner for 2010 Missouri Outstanding Older Worker of the Year Award
Published: 11/04/2010
A custodian at SCC for the past 18 years, Hunter was nominated for the award by more than 25 members of SCC’s faculty, staff and students.
“Ralph is proof that a person well past retirement age can contribute not only to do a good day’s work, but also impact other people’s lives in a positive way,” said April Hoekenga, a coordinating counselor at SCC, and one of the many who nominated Hunter for the award.
In order to be eligible for the award, recipients had to be at least 65 years of age and work more than 20 hours a week.
Hunter was also a semi-finalist for the statewide award, which was announced at a recognition ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 22. At the statewide event, Hunter, along with Hoekenga and two of his daughters, received a tour of the state capitol and they were treated to a luncheon and a photo opportunity with Missouri Governor Jay Nixon’s wife and first lady, Georganne.
