SCC Chapter of Tau Upsilon Alpha National Human Services Honor Society Inducts 12 New Members and Two Honorary Members
Published: 11/19/2010
The inductees were welcomed by Tau Upsilon Alpha’s charter members, SCC criminal justice and human services administrators and faculty, and local professionals in those fields.
“We continue to maintain a networking foundation for our students with connections to human services and law enforcement agencies, professional organizations and the St. Charles County community as a whole,” said Flora Fazio, SCC adjunct professor and Tau Upsilon Alpha’s founder and co-advisor. “Our chapter provides our student members with academic training, service information and networking resources to further enhance their academic and career goals.”
The induction ceremony featured remarks from Michael Banks, SCC vice president for academic and student affairs, and keynote speaker Gary McKiddy, SCC adjunct professor of history, who was inducted as an honorary member of Tau Upsilon Alpha.
Mary Kay Kreider, educator and program coordinator at St. Louis Crisis Nursery of Wentzville, was also inducted as an honorary member. Each year Tau Upsilon Alpha inducts two practicing professionals who have contributed to the field of human services and/or criminal justice as honorary members.
Tau Upsilon Alpha is the only Greek letter honor society for human services at two and four-year colleges and universities. It is also a part of the National Organization for Human Services, dedicated to honoring academic excellence, fostering lifelong learning, leadership and development, and promoting excellence in service to humanity.
