SCC to Hold Open Auditions for "Buried Child"

“Buried Child” digs deep into family dysfunction and the deterioration of the American dream. When grandson Vince returns to the family farm with his girlfriend Shelley, no one seems to recognize or remember him. In Vince’s persistent search for recognition, he unearths a deep, dark family secret.
Director Lonna Wilke will hold open auditions at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, and at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in Room 108 of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus in Cottleville. Callbacks will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Center Stage Theatre invites SCC students and community residents to audition. There are roles available for five men and two women. One minute dramatic monologues are welcome, but not required. A copy of the script is on reserve at the college’s library.
Those auditioning must be available from 7-10 p.m. Monday-Friday evenings for rehearsal, with some additional weekend rehearsals. The first rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8.
“Buried Child” will be performed in the theater of the Fine Arts Building at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 18-21, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22. There will be a high school matinee performance at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19.
