Published: 12/10/2009
Set in a lovely French town, “Beauty and the Beast” tells the story of Belle, who must give up her own freedom to save her father from a horrible beast and an enchanted castle. Based on the animated Disney feature, the musical production follows Belle as she comes to know, understand and eventually fall in love with the Beast, who is the victim of a spell cast many years earlier. There are new songs in addition to those from the animated movie.
Auditions are open to actors ages 8-18, and will consist of a song and dance. Those auditioning should be prepared to perform one minute of a Broadway repertoire song. Please bring sheet music or CD accompaniment without lyrics. Also, a short dance combination will be taught that day. A parent or guardian must be present during the audition process.
“Beauty and the Beast” will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, March 19-20 and 26-27, and at 2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, March 20-21 and 27-28, in the theater.
