Center Stage Theatre to Present "Buried Child" Nov. 18-22 at SCC

Published: 11/11/2009

The show will be performed Nov. 18-22 in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus. Performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 18-21, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22.  There will be a high school matinee performance at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.

The show, which was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1979, digs deep into family dysfunction and the deterioration of the American dream. When grandson Vince returns to the family farm with his girlfriend Shelly, no one seems to recognize or remember him.  In Vince’s persistent search for recognition, he unearths a deep, dark family secret.

The play is directed by Lonna Wilke, associate professor of theater at SCC. Members of the cast include Jared Latore of O’Fallon as Dodge, Courtney Hooker of St. Peters as Halie, Greg Faupel of Wentzville as Tilden, Justin McNiff of O’Fallon as Bradley, Michael Burrell of Wentzville as Vince, Erin Dorsey of St. Charles as Shelly, and Jacob Hulsey of St. Peters as Father Dewis.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and college students with ID.  This year, for the first time, Center Stage Theatre will also be observing Budget Wednesdays: all tickets for the Wednesday, Nov. 18 show are $4.
