SCC to Host Annual Conference for Book Writers and Illustrators
Published: 10/01/2009
This conference is designed to meet the needs of writers and illustrators at different stages of their careers. There will be three categories of breakout sessions: the apprentice track for new writers, the master track for experienced writers, and the illustrator track.
Illustrators are invited to bring a portfolio or sample of their work to display at the event. Artists are also invited to submit one piece to be judged. The winner will receive a conference scholarship.
This year, the Missouri SCBWI is also hosting a writer’s mentorship contest. Applicants must apply in advance of the conference to win a year-long mentorship with author Leslie Wyatt and a conference scholarship. Application instructions are available on the SCBWI Web site.
The cost for the conference is $115 general registration, and $95 for SCBWI members prior to Oct. 10. The cost after Oct. 10 is $110 for members and $135 for non-members. Lunch is included in the registration fee.
Featured presenters will include award-winning illustrators and writers as well as editors and agents.
